Microblading
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the appearance of eyebrows. This technique involves the use of a specialized handheld tool equipped with fine, sterile blades to deposit pigment into the upper layers of the skin, mimicking the natural look of eyebrow hairs. The process allows for precise, hair-like strokes that can be tailored to the individual's desired shape and color, resulting in fuller, more defined eyebrows.

What is Microblading? Microblading is a technique in the realm of permanent makeup that employs a delicate blade to craft fine, hair-like lines within the eyebrow area, creating the illusion of having naturally grown hair overnight! This effect can persist for 1 to 3 years, particularly with annual touch-ups and color refreshers. This method aims to enhance the natural appearance of brows, seamlessly integrating for those who have a full brow of hair and wish to refine their shape and add subtle volume. It is not ideal for individuals with minimal or patchy hair growth. Microblading generally yields the best results on younger skin types that are normal to dry. Individuals with combination or oily skin, as well as those with mature skin, are not the best candidates for Microblading; they may find that combination or ombre powder brows suit them better. Many clients mistakenly assume Microblading is the only option for achieving "natural" results; however, if a client does not meet the ideal criteria, the results can become less natural-looking over time. For those with oily skin, aging skin, or those who spend a lot of time in the sun, the hair strokes created by Microblading may begin to blur and appear splotchy as time goes on.
What factors will influence my results? Oily Skin: Increased oil production can lead to hairstrokes blurring and fading quickly, or not adhering at all. Additional touch-ups may be required. Sun Exposure: Excessive exposure to sunlight can result in premature fading. I recommend that all my clients utilize SPF when the brows have fully healed. Excessive Bleeding: Significant bleeding during your procedure can greatly affect how well your body retains pigments. Some pinpoint bleeding is normal, but excessive bleeding can cause the pigment to fade rapidly and heal with an ashy appearance. While we cannot completely control bleeding, it is crucial to adhere to pre-care instructions to minimize it. This includes avoiding blood-thinning medications and alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment. Improper Aftercare: Failing to follow the provided aftercare instructions can significantly compromise your healed results. Adhere closely to all aftercare guidelines for the best possible outcome.
If I have previously had my eyebrows treated, am I still eligible? I will only work on another artist's previous work if it is at least 80% faded. All new clients are treated as first-time sessions and will need an 8-10 week touch-up. Some cover-ups may require more than two sessions to achieve the desired outcome. Cover-ups are evaluated individually, please book a consult or send photos of your brows for further assessment of your candidacy!
What should I anticipate right after my appointment? Following your eyebrow procedure, you may notice some minor redness or swelling in the treated area, which usually resolves within 24 hours. In the hours that follow, the pigment will oxidize, causing your brows to appear darker and warmer (with a reddish tint) than their initial shade. This reaction is entirely normal and expected. Typically, the pigment may fade by 20-40% as it heals. Around days 3 to 4, you might see light flaking in the treated area, which is also a normal part of the healing process! It’s important that you avoid picking, scratching, or touching the area during this time, as these actions can lead to premature pigment loss, scarring, and uneven healing. Once the flaking is completely finished (approximately by day 10), your brows will look considerably lighter. This stage is referred to as the "ghosting phase," where the new skin layer casts a milky tint over the pigment beneath. The pigment will gradually darken over the next 4 to 8 weeks, ultimately settling into a healed color that is 15-20% lighter. By 6 to 8 weeks, your brows will have fully healed. Any pigment that hasn’t reappeared will be addressed during your touch-up appointment. It’s completely normal for some sections to retain pigment more effectively than others! Once you have fully recovered from your touch-up session, your brows will be ready to last for 18 to 36 months!

How long does it take? Inital sessions takes 2-3 hours Touch up sessions takes 1-2 hours
How long will it last? Permanent Makeup is intended to gradually fade over time. Various factors, including skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, sun exposure, and pigment color, can influence the longevity of the tattoo. Adhering to the provided aftercare instructions is essential for achieving optimal healed results, and routine touch-ups every 24 to 36 months (as needed) are part of the process. Touch-ups are a standard and expected aspect of PMU. *Please note that final results can vary and cannot be guaranteed due to the unique nature of skin healing. A follow-up appointment is necessary 8 to 12 weeks after your initial session, during which we will evaluate your pigment retention and refine your permanent makeup.*
Do I need a touch-up appointment? Yes. PMU is a two-step process, and a touch-up is essential for achieving perfectly healed results. Your "perfecting session" should be scheduled 6 to 8 weeks after your initial appointment and is primarily focused on evaluating pigment retention, refining the shape and color, and enhancing dimension if desired. Regarding annual touch-ups, these should be conducted every 24 to 36 months. You should wait at least 12 to 16 months before returning for another session. If your eyebrows haven't faded sufficiently, we may need to reschedule your appointment for a later date.
